Explain Heidegger’s critique of the principle of sufficient reason

Your essay must show that you have read and understood the relevant unit materials and that you have considered the concepts and arguments they raise. Essays that do not engage with the unit materials will be failed.

It is most important that you support your assertions with reasons, arguments, evidence and references. One of the most common mistakes in philosophy essays is the unsubstantiated assertion of controversial claims.

Answer one of the following:

1) Explain Heidegger’s critique of the principle of sufficient reason. Do you agree/disagree with his claim? Use your own examples to discuss Heidegger’s claim.

2) Discuss the crisis of modern society according to two major thinkers from the unit.

You must use appropriate references for each passage taken from a text. If you cite a quotation in the main body of your essay, one convention is to include author, year of publication and page number after the quotation used; or author, year of publication and range of page numbers for paraphrased material used in your essay.
